Welcome to Atrec
Advanced Technology Research Centre is a joint venture set up by ST Kinetics (now known as ST Engineering Land Systems) and DSO National Laboratories in 2006 to spearhead Singapore’s R&D efforts in energetic materials, enhancing our defence capabilities and homeland security.
Equipped with the latest state-of-the-art materials processing and testing facilities, ATREC conducts R&D in advanced technologies, focusing on energetic materials and systems, advanced processing techniques, and homemade explosives. It also provides explosives testing and evaluation of energetics’ performance for many local organisations.
With its full suite of capabilities ranging from materials synthesis and scale up, formulation and processing, to testing and diagnostics, ATREC has emerged as a one-stop R&D centre in energetic materials and systems development. ATREC’s direction is to develop high performance energetic systems by pursuing technologies and developing quality, reliable and cost efficient products.

Safety & Health Policy
In our R&D work in energetic materials, the safety of ATREC researchers is of paramount importance as they constantly face a myriad of technical and safety challenges in the laboratories. Hence, a comprehensive safety and health framework was established and continuously improved upon since ATREC’s inception. Risk management remains a key cornerstone in our safety framework and has been ingrained as a culture in our researchers. The ATREC Safety and Health Committee, with the guidance of ATREC Safety Advisory Board, actively reviews the safety and health policies and procedures, and approves experimental work procedures so as to create a safe environment for innovation and creativity.
Quality Policy
ATREC has implemented a quality management system (QMS), which uses ISO 9001:2015 as a guiding framework that allows us to document and improve our practices in order to better satisfy the needs and expectations of our customers, stakeholders, and interested parties.
